What this site is

This website is operated by ShamuWare Academy & Consulting ("ShamuWare," "we," "us"), based in Wayne, New Jersey, serving clients remotely. This notice explains what information the site collects and how it's used.

Information you provide directly

If you use the contact form, we receive the information you enter: your name, work email, company, role, preferred contact method, and the summary you provide. That information is used only to respond to your inquiry — it is not sold, rented, or used for unrelated marketing.

If you use the "Get Started" form to register interest in ShamuWare Academy or ask about a consulting engagement, we receive the information you enter there too: your name, email address, optional phone number, preferred contact method, and the course or consulting details relevant to the path you selected — for example, learning goals, or organization name and project details. We use it only to review and respond to that request. Submitting either form does not create an account, and does not guarantee course enrollment or a consulting engagement.

Please don't send confidential information

The contact form is not intended for source code, credentials, production data, or other confidential or sensitive material. Please don't include it in a submission.

Campaign attribution (UTM parameters)

When you arrive from a marketing link containing campaign parameters ( utm_source , utm_medium , utm_campaign , utm_content , utm_term ), the site stores those values in your browser's session storage — not a cookie — so the same attribution can be carried to the contact form or scheduling link if you navigate the site before reaching out. This data clears when you close your browser session, is never sent to a third party by this site directly, and the site works identically if these parameters are absent or storage is unavailable.

Cookies and website usage information

This site does not load any third-party analytics or advertising script, and its traffic counting does not set a cookie or any persistent identifier. If a different analytics tool is enabled in the future, this notice will be updated first to describe what it collects.

ShamuWare may collect website usage information to understand how the site is used and to improve the experience. This consists of counts of visits and page views, grouped by page and by day, together with approximate country and region information derived from your IP address. These counts are sent to ShamuWare's own server, hosted on Microsoft Azure. Each visit or page view is also recorded as an individual entry containing the time, the page, the approximate country and region, and your IP address. These entries are kept for 90 days and then deleted. They are not linked to any contact-form or inquiry submission, are not shown to other visitors, and are not shared with advertisers or analytics providers. The daily counts are kept as totals without your IP address. To count a visit once per browser session, the site keeps a simple marker in your browser's session storage; it is never sent anywhere and clears when you close the tab. The location is approximate, can be inaccurate, and is not a record of where you live. Like any website, our hosting providers may also keep their own standard technical logs as part of running their services.

To estimate that approximate location, ShamuWare's server sends your IP address to ipapi.is, a third-party IP-information service, which returns the approximate country and region together with general facts about the network the address belongs to: the organization that operates it and whether it looks like a home, mobile, business or datacenter connection, a VPN or proxy, or a known web crawler. ShamuWare stores that result alongside your visit entry for the same 90 days and uses it only to understand site traffic. It describes a network, not you, and it is not used to identify you or to build a profile of you. ipapi.is handles the address under its own terms and privacy practices.

Third-party services

If you use the scheduling link, you'll be taken to a third-party scheduling provider with its own privacy practices. If you email us directly, that message is handled through our email provider.

Contact-form submissions are delivered to ShamuWare's inbox through a transactional email provider (Formspree). Get Started submissions are not emailed on receipt; ShamuWare reviews them directly in its internal system. If a submission can't be stored at that moment, it is emailed to ShamuWare through Microsoft Azure Communication Services instead so it isn't lost. ShamuWare can archive a submission or move it to a deleted list in that internal system; it is kept there, out of the everyday view, until it is permanently erased. When a submission is permanently erased, its details are emailed to ShamuWare first, through Azure Communication Services, so a record is kept; ShamuWare can also email itself a copy of a submission from that system, and may reply to a submission by email from there, also through Azure Communication Services. Permanently erasing a submission removes it from that internal system; the emailed copy remains in ShamuWare's email until it is deleted there. ShamuWare also keeps an activity log of actions taken on submissions (what was done, when, and the submission's reference number); it does not include your contact details or message. In local development this delivery path is disabled by default and submissions go nowhere outside the running application; enabling real delivery in production is a separate, deliberate step.

Data retention

Contact-form inquiries are retained only as long as needed to respond to you and maintain a reasonable business record, then deleted.

Get Started submissions are stored so ShamuWare can review and respond to course and consulting inquiries, retained only as long as needed to do that and maintain a reasonable business record, then deleted. They are not added to the content the ShamuWare AI assistant uses to answer questions, and are not used as training data.

Website usage entries (time, page, approximate location, and IP address) and the network information stored with them are deleted after 90 days. The daily usage totals contain no contact details, message content, or IP address; they are kept as totals, and ShamuWare has not set a fixed deletion period for them.

You can browse this site without submitting any personal information. To ask a question about this notice or request that we delete information you've sent us, email shams@shamuware.com .
